Monocrystalline module

Highly efficient monocrystalline module Historically the oldest solar cell, which is still one of major materials for solar cell. It uses a highly pure silicon, so the conversion efficiency is excellent (ca. 20% on a research level) but its high cost is a shortcoming.

Polycrystalline module

Polycrystalline silicon solar cell reuses scraps and silicon coming from semiconductor IC manufacture process. Because of that the conversion efficiency is somewhat low compared with that of monocrystalline silicon due to various impediments occurring between crystals (ca. 20% on a research level), but it is most used in production of solar cell for its low material cost.
